Default final dirve gear question

ok... i know viper did a very nice explenation about this a while back, but i can't seem to find the tread anywhere, and yes i've searched and searched...
if someone can post the linke for it in here it would help out a great deal....

well as for the question... what all will i need to change the final gear? i know it's wise to get a yellow box? and once getting the yellow box, is it simple to set up? or do i have to set it up manually? would i have to drive next to a car and judge the speed or will installing the yellow box take care of all that hard work...?

You'll need a shim kit to do the install, Honda wants a fortune for it. You can buy the shims individually from mazda rather than a kit.

You can do the yellow box or you can get Modify's new speedometer correction box, it's a little easier to set. Both boxes are easy to install.

I run 444 gears, you can buy those from Mazda too. They're quieter running than Ricks 457 gears and work better if you're sc'd compared to 457's. 457's were designed specifically for n/a s2k's.

Because it's a thorsen differential, I run Ford friction modifier in with my mobil1 gear oil. That makes a big difference too in breaking them in and how quiet they run.

If you're running oversize wheels I'd recomend you get a comptech housing.
