AEM V2 install pics and review.
Short review of the v2 intake:
PROS:
1. comes with very detailed instruction for my specific car with pics.
2. very good build quality
3. I noticed a large power increase over my aem short ram.
4. gave me much needed bottom end.
CONS:
1. You have to replace a tranny mount with a supplied one.(takes 3-5 min)
2. Fitment is incredibly tight I scratched mine up in a few places.
3. The intake mount did not line up with the hole it was supposed to so it is not bolted down. the intake is very solid though and will not move an inch.
4. Overall the installation was a BITCH.

After we got everything put in and snug we re-set the ecu and went for a test run...
As I said before the increase in power was much more than expected. I am very happy with my perches and would recommend this intake to anyone that isn't poor.
edit: I forgot the mention the sound of vtec is insane. anything other than WOT is not loud or anoying.

i have that too, i love it. how is replacing the tranny mount a con? its 2 bolts? i also scratched mine in a few places and the bolt that didnt line up caused it to put a gash in it from when i raced my car

Why do you have to replace the tranny mount? I've always wondered what the deal is with that intake. It says 96-00 Civic ex MT only and I could never figure out why.

it comes with a thinner mount for more room. the huge intake pipe wont fit past the stock one.

idk, my buddy put a cold air (aem v1) on his prelude, and i had a 'ractive' on my old EK.
The power gain is sweet, and almost unbelivable, for such a simple mod. BUT
When you start pouring thousands of dollars into your engine, being a 'pansy' [aka fear of hydrolock] will become much more of a reality for you.......

I agree, I just purchased a Comp Cam setup and a few other goodies like a new tranny, clutch, flywheel, pulleys, short shifter... so I think my next mod will be a bypass valve just so all of this **** hasn't been a waste.

Bypass valves negate the effectiveness of the CAI.
IMO there is absoloutely no need to be worried about your motor ingesting water, so long as you have an ounce of common sense.
But, working with the public has led me to believe that common sense isn't all that common.

If you don't remove any of the bumper lining or inner fender well lining, your pretty safe.
For a bypass valve to work, the filter of the intake has to be completely submerged. So, not really worth it IMO.
