Default Help with Alpine iva d900

I bought a used alpine dvd player on ebay and it seem to be missing the power supply harness and the dc/dc converter that goes behind the screeen. I tried it with just the battery and ground wires to see if it turns on, but no luck.
I was just wondering if I need to the dc/dc converter to get it on. And do I need to install everything including all the wires from the brain? I just need to have the screen to have power to see if it works or not.
I know other head just need power and groud wires connected to get it on. So help.

What's an offboard switcher? I was talking about the tuner box. (brain)
anyways, all i'm missing is the connector which I can solder wires back into. But what is the dc/dc converter they show here on the manual that splits out from the connector behind the monitor?
