Default Redbull and TIG welding :p

ive been practicing my stainless tube welding...trying to become more precise/consistent and keep the HAZ as small as can be with the right amount of penetration. no pulsing, just constant current and trying to keep a steady hand

308 filler, 0.049 in. wall 304 stainless, purged, maxstar 200sd

a dime for weld size comparison

looks very good .

what size filler are u using ? ..
is your torch set up with a gas lense ?
how many amps ?
how are u keeping the bead so small yet get good penitration and have it be big enough for some filler ?

i dont remember the size filler off the top of my head. yes, i have a gas lense (straight argon)...its an air cooled torch. current is set around 50, i dont always use the entire pedal you can keep the bead small and get penetration...."feeds and speeds"

another quick question ..

when welding .. all of your beads seem to be leval ...not portruding out

are u adding filler alot or a dab .. then u see it needs more then another ..

i have welded and i always seem to come out over the surface .. if i dab.....dabbb. dabb ..

but when i dab move .. untill u can see it needs more i dab again .. thats the only time i seem to get the bead to be leval with the surface ? .. this is when i have a gap .. when pipe is butted up i just pulse fuse the thing and comes out looking alittle like yours but wider .

the amount of filler i add/size of the weld i want depends on the type of joint im welding. on that weld, i added filler constantly, a little at a time....just have to get a feel for it.

Looks nice. That's the way they like welds in food service and pharmaceutical industries....small and smooth. How about some pics of the inside. I'm sure it looks nice, so why not post it too?

Looks GREAT! I'd really like to get a gas lens setup for my torch also, but don't know where to get the parts for my particular torch.

I love how the "drops" aren't huge and pilled like a "stack of dimes". Looks much more professional like this. Are you dipping realyl quickly? When I do this, it looks a lot more stacked, and each "dime" is huge.
