Default Wiring the fuel sender unit to a fuel guage

OK - I bought a part finished CRX si (88) and it has no fuel guage. So, I purchased a guage from Auto zone and it seems pretty simple: 3 connections (ground, live and sender). So, from the sender unit there are 2 contacts. I've tried connecting each and both to the sender contact on the guage with nothing showing.

Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?

Thx

it's becasue the stock sender and the aftermarket gauge are not compatible, one of teh only aftermarket fuel gauges that works is the Autometer Colbalt series fuel gauge becasue you can set the resistance to what ever the stock sender uses
