I have a carsound, but does anyone know if aftermarket cat's actually convert gases properly? OEM cats are so expensive because they use platinum and rydium as catalysts, and it's hard for me to believe that these 60 dollar cats use the same precious metals necessary in the cat.

That's because they don't; the purity of the catalysts (or the useful concentration present) is much lower in the aftermarket cats v. the OEM cat - if you go with an aftermarket cat, be ready to repace it once a year (or sooner).
