Default Hytech Header=+20HP and 22ft/LBS.

The new Sport compact car (Feb 2002) has a mention of the Hytech header in their "B series Guide". According to john of Hytech, the header on a STOCK typr-R with only a VAFC made 20 Horsepower and 22 lb-ft of torque. As well as a 10 hp gain at 2500 rpm...

I see on his site that it says up to 20HP for a fully tuned car. I doubt on a stock car. Probably 10 at most..

The key phrase there is "with only a VAFC". As shown in The Great Header Test, a decent header and highflow cat/testpipe will yield very good results on its own. Combined with extensive fuel and vtec x-over tuning via a V-AFC, those numbers would be even better. There is no disputing that Hy-Tech's products are some of the best in the industry, but the dyno results you quoted would have been significantly lower had the header and exhaust simply been bolted on without any further tuning. Also, keep in mind that Hy-Tech's headers are designed to truly shine when used on semi/highly modded motors, and not as simple bolt-on pieces.

The article (now shown above) does not mention exhaust or a high flow cat/ test pipe... Just header and VAFC.

That's a real good advertising technique... "This header on a stock type-r with a vafc controller made 20HP and 22lb-ft." Nice to see he fails to mention the highflow cat (or test pipe) and full exhaust system.
I could get a pacesetter header to show +50 hp on a "stock" type-r (if I accidentally failed to mention the 100 shot of naawwzz yo!)

Marlene has a HyTech header, stock cat, and stock exhaust.

Hey Marlene, do you have any charts? I'll be back in town in a couple of weeks with a friends B20, and another itr.

She's almost as bad as me! I've got the stock catback and a testpipe with my spec b's, but she has the stock cat too?

Damn we need to ditch this stock crap. Marlene, this would be an opportune time to get the hytech cat and twinloop exhaust huh?

.....well I'll contact you when I have my "temporary" exhaust solution figured out then. It should be sub ~$100 and use an exhaust cutout/ test pipe/ cat configuration behind the header... "off-road/ race only" setup, but great if you want to scare the **** out of ricers too... I expect to have this in place within the next 30 days...

What I meant by extensive was that its probably safe to assume that the test car spent a good deal of time on the dyno getting the fuel and VTEC settings to an optimal point. Chances are that it didn't just make 2 or 3 pulls with a few changes to the fuel curve here and there. However, I wasn't at the tuning session so I could be mistaken. It just seems logical that every effort possible to get power out of the setup would be taken before the numbers were posted here or on other sites.

This car belongs to vagoITR, the dyno tuning was done at Area51, which isn't all that far from where HyTech is located, and I don't think that it had all that much dyno tuning. Just adding in the information that I have.
