Default Making VTEC-Less out of LS motor

If you take an LS motor and replace all internals with vtec, would it run like a vtec-less?

i'm not quite sure your question is the clearest but will try to lend some guidance before your flamed to badly.
Search around for lsvtec setups(non vtec block with a vtec head mated together) or crvtec setups(b20 or crv non vtec block with a vtec head again).
Theres pleanty of people on the board running these setups and tons of info on whats needed.

You will spend enough money rounding up internals that you might as well just buy the damn engine to begin with.

Jesus this is strange.

Anyways if you put all the bottom end components such as rods, pistons, crank, etc. all you'll be doing is destroking the engine from 1834cc to 1797cc and NO it will still not have VTEC.

What makes the VTEC function is the VTEC head, rockers, cams, and electronics.

You cannot put VTEC cams, rockers, etc. on an LS head to begin with.
so now I ask you, before this topic gets locked:

WHAT IS YOUR EXACT QUESTION?

The engine is already "VTEC-less" so what exactly are you trying to ask?

Also there is no point in putting VTEC bottom end parts in an LS block - it will simply lose power unless you start adding higher domed VTEC pistons from the B16A. You'd need a B18C1 crank, rods, and then add B16A pistons just to hope that you can make more CR than the stock LS already has, and you'd still lose some torque.

yea, I try to help but that question doesn't make sense.

You can raise compression with some aftermarket pistons, which will give you a little extra power. I believe the b16a pistons will fit on the LS rods (i might be wrong, I know one of the higher CR OEM pistons will fit).

It would be down right stupid to destroke the engine even for more compression, there are better ways of adding compression.

And your LS will never have vtec unless you swap to a vtec head. It will not have vtec, zetec, variable valve timing anything unless you put a vtec head on it like I stated before. Most engines run without vtec (a lot of american cars, euros, japanese), therefor they don't have it so they are vtec-less.

If you want to make power with your LS, it depends what you plan on doing with it.

Turbo:
Start with some turbo cams and a decent exhaust, since you're talking about rebuilding it, then go with some lower comp pistons, and continue to either peice together a kit, or buy one of the kits (I wouldn't reccomend one, but some people perfer them).

All-Motor:
You have a bunch of options here, LSvtec will probably net the most HP/TQ figures in the end.

Start with the basics:
Intake
Header
Exhaust
Cams/Upgraded Valvetrain
Higher CR Pistons
Port and Polish the head (this is very important, cause LS head's flow like ****)
Get rid of all the accesories (PS, A/C)

That's the best I'm going to give you for now, I mean you're question really is retarded.

Funny thing but let me put in my .02, if you're planning to do what you're going to do, why not just get a b16 or b18c block. All the money that you're going to spend putting vtec internals into a ls block is going to be way more that just picking up a vtec block?

WTF I have no idea what you just said. I'm guessing you want a non-vtec motor to run like a vtec motor which is not possible. Try throwing some bigger cams in and having some head work done and it'll be like your running in vtec all the time but you'll have a shitty idle and bad gas mileage.

I think he's asking if you put all of the internals from a B16/18 in a LS/B20 motor, would it still run like the LS/B20? Meaning that even though all the vtec internals are there, it would still be "vtec less". Anyways, we'll probably have to wait for him to chime in here again to figure this one out.

OK gotcha i was a little confused on that one. Still would be cheaper just to buy a VTEC engine. I'm guessing he wants to spin his LS to higher RPM's?

Please Please inform all of Honda-Tech wtf the "vtec-less" is. Apparently noone here has heard of it, is this somthing that you coined up in ur head to call it, or has it been called this by many people?

is this ur "vtec-less" Integra?? you probably should have asked this question over in the integra forum.

since this topic is really getting out of hand anyway....

you can make a b18c vtec-less if you put on a b18b head. i know it's the opposite of what most people do, but i've seen it done for turbo apps....

ALright guys listen up.

1; yes that is my car. i nolonger have the neons anyway. and yes i messed up and put it in here instead of teg but doesnt matter.

2. Vtec-Less, is when you have a vtec motor and you disconect the vtec, so you just have the power from the motor. ok, So my question was if you put alot of vtec internals in the ls motor will it give you the same amount of power as if you go vtec less on like a b16/18

also how did you find those pics lol
