02 Sensor Questions
Well I need a new one in my EG. How expensive are the OEM ones? Is there a cheaper aftermarket solution available at Pep Boys, NAPA, etc. that will work just as well?
Also the guy that chips my ECU says he removed the "heater circuit" function of the 02 sensor so that I can use a single-wire 02 sensor from an older civic without throwing a CEL. Are these single-wire sensors cheaper?
Thanks.

$65 for a Denso OEM replacement.
Why did he do that anyways? Short cuts are pretty ******* stupid, usually, something ***** up.

I wouldn't trust ebay..
I remember someone on here saying get OEM/Denso or leave it alone. other aftermarket ones aren't worth the money b/c they go bad in 2 months.
OEM ones at the dealership are going to run you $200+ (mine was $220)
Edit: have no idea about your heater circuit question.

Well according to that sparkplugs.com site, the "OE identical" O2 sensor for an 89 Civic Si (which is a one-wire sensor I believe) is $32 while the "OE identical" 02 sensor for a 94 civic DX is $64...

you can get oem style plug-in denso's on ebay for ~$60 (in store is usually ~$90). just make sure you get the direct-fit one, not the universal one (where you need to splice wires)

Ditto that and Ebay sparkplugssource / autoparts warehouse.
Beware there are sources that will send you refurbished O2 sensors = crap

I can get the denso universal one for $17.95 as opposed to $32 for the "OE identical" version. This is for the single wire sensor from an 89 civic. Is the only difference between the two the fact that you have to solder the wire on the universal one? Because that wouldn't be very hard considering that it's only one wire...
The 89 civic did use a single-wire 02 right? That's what my friend who did the ecu told me. My EG has a 3-wire 02. He said the other two wires are for the heater circuit, and all I needed to do was buy an 89 civic 02 sensor and connect it to the white wire on my 02 sensor wiring??

ok I will get one today...
how do you disconnect the 02 sensor from the wires? I know how to unscrew it from the collector but it just stays hanging on the wires, never tried to take it off...

When you look at it, use your ability to reason and problem solve.
Seriously
I can understand asking where it is, what it is and what it does, how much it costs, where the best place is to buy it......but...come on, do you want the forum to go ahead and send someone out for you?
There are reasons that some people go to mechanics, if your not mechanically inclined (which now is obvious your not) maybe you should take it in somewhere.

What are you smoking? It lists for $160 + shipping. I just came back from the Honda dealer from picking up some oil filters and I asked, they quoted $235 + tax.

wow calm down man I was just wondering if there was any special way to remove it that might make it go more smoothly when I try to take it out. I thought there might be a special method since components that are subjected to a lot of heat are often difficult to disassemble.

Damn that's a big difference from the Denso one for EG which on that sparkplugs.com site goes for $62. I'm hoping to find the Denso sensor at Pep Boys, NAPA, etc...

They don't. The ones I've been to are the Bosch ones.

so bosch 02 sensors - anyone use one and does it work ok?</TD></TR></TABLE>
I hear those are crap. I would get a Denso.....remember you get what you pay for. If you want to have to replace your o2 sensor again next year, then get the bosch.

you'll be glad you did
I have used bosch sensors in the past, as a quick fix...and I do mean quick, beacuse they have only ever lasted 3months tops with me, before causing some cel (either cat inefficiency, sensor failure or heater malfunction) They're the biggest hunks of $50 junk imo.
And dont even say I wired them wrong...Im no fool
