Another D15B thread.. Questions/Info
So I bought a JDM D15B SOHC VTEC (auto) and I am in the process of replacing a few things on it before I swap it in my CRX, but since there is no exact US equivalent it is hard to know which parts to buy.
Just for those that don't know, some D15B specs (there a lot of D15B's out there, this is just one of the more common ones):
configuration: SOHC VTEC
size: 1493 cc
bore x stroke: 75.0 x 84.5
comp. ratio: 9.3
hp: 128 @ 6800 rpm
torque: 102 lbs/ft @ 4500 rpm
redline: ~7200 rpm
rods: 137mm
R/S ratio: 1.62
deck height: 207.45
Everything on the engine is stamped P08, along with the ECU.
Block is more like a VX than Si (92-95 D16Z6) but is still different than both -- slightly dished pistons, larger rods, different crank.
Head is more like Si than VX but also different, the cam profile is thought to be more aggressive, not positive on this. I think the distributors are different too, also not positive.
Some more specs, according to Mista Bone:
D16 and D15B rods: large end bore = 48mm/1.89"
All D15's except D15B/HF rods: large end bore = 45mm/1.77"
Crankshaft rod journal diameter
D16 and D15B 44.976-45.000/1.7707-1.7717"
D15 except D15B/HF 41.976-42.000/1.6526-1.6535"
Part list:
Timing belt: VX
Water pump: VX
Spark plugs, wires: Si
Valve cover, gasket: Si
Head studs: Si
Head gasket: Si
Intake/Exhaust manifold gaskets: Si
Distributor cap/Rotor: Si
Thermostat: VX
PCV Valve: Si
Oil pan gasket: ?? VX?
Rear main seal: ?? VX?
I guess the rule is anything on the outside of the head, get Si. Anything on the outside of the block, get VX... will this work with everything?

Oh yeah I thought of another thing. The alternator pulley is 4 ribbed/grooved and I think most D series are 3.. correct me if I'm wrong. I know my HF motor has 3 ribs. Do you think the stock alt. belt will still work?
JDM d15b vtec motor is basically a d15z1 with a d16z6 head..
For the shortblock get the parts for a d15z1(vx) Timing belt is a vx..
And for the head look into parts for the d16z6 92-95 si/ex head
