Default 95 Accord LX woes...help appreciated

ill start it off with a hello. i'm new to these forums and it seems there is lots of good information here. i drive a 1995 accord lx sedan automatic. i recently took the car to a shop to get the tires rotated and alligned. they told me my CV joints were worn out and needed to be replaced if i wanted to allign the tires. after having the CV joints fixed and tires rotate and alligned the SRS light stays on all the time. the shop told me they dont know why and i should take it to a dealer to diagnose the problem. havn't done that yet....it's 2 weeks later and the SRS light still stays on. so wtf is the deal? do i have to take it to the dealer to figure it out? btw, i know the SRS light means there something wrong with the airbags.

2nd problem is my car was hit and run about 9 months ago in a parking lot. the damage is only on the front passenger door. the door still opens and closes and the locks/windoes work. i took it to a body shop and they quote me for $1200 to fix it! so i havnt gotten that done either. were they trying to rip me off or is that how much it's going to cost me?

thanks for any help you can give me...i hope i didn't bore anyone with my post

you would have to post up some pictures of the damage for us to see.

the srs light you would have to bring it to the dealer or a mechanic shop that has a scanner that can reset the light

you can fix the srs light yourself, just search around for instructions its not too hard. as for the door, again, search around, talk to people on HT you might be able to just get a used door cheaper than that. GoodLuck!

thanks for the help guys

i dont have a digital camera and i dont think i have any pics laying around showing the damage, but the door is pretty well crumpled in--to the point where they can't just dent it back out and repaint. the body shop said they would have to get a complete "shell" to replace the one already on the car (by shell i guess they mean the outside metal part of the door). that $1200 quote was for the replacement door, painting it, and labor.

thanks again guys--if i can get a hold of a camera ill post up pics of the damage

The skin is the outer panel, a shell is the skin and the structure. Depending on color, the shop may have written to blend paint into the fender and the rear door, as well.
