Ticking from my dohc ZC
Very strange ticking from my engine, its on the right side of the engine, where the blets and ect are.
Ok so here's what happens,
when i start the car up it ticks for about 2 seconds.
and when im driving i can hear the ticking on
1st 2nd and 3rd gear, at around 2500rpm...
I did a valve adjustment but the ticking is still happening.
What do you think causes the problem?
When im on the freeway usually 4th and 5th gear i dont hear any ticking.

actually, my injectors tick, loud. I've heard a couple different crx's and civic's with b16's that tap. put a screwdriver up to the injectors while there ticking, like your listening to your valves

take the timming belt cover off - you might have a frayed belt? just have a really good look at the belts

my ZC does the same thing. it only started when i did a de-carb on it. but it sounds like its from the belt area of mine too.
i stopped worrying about it. the damn thing has oil, and i'll do a valve adjustment soon...

mine does it until its warm, then its gone. im thinking its something to do with the lower oil pressure until it warms up. i have a b series though, but i share your concern. i hat ehearing it until it goes away.
not a good feeling

i had the same problem on my old b16,i thought it was my valves and $400 bucks later it was still doing it,i cam to the conclusion it was my cam gears were a little loose.but know that i have had my new b16 in for 3 days it still does it a little.who knows i still have a lot to do to get it running right.
just checking, for all you guys that responded, was it constantly? or only when you hit a certain rpm, because at idle-2400 rpm the car sounds normal, but when i hit 2500rpm then thats when it makes the noise.
is it a tick or a knock my zc ticks constenly but my ol zc would only knock at 3500-6000 rpm two months later boom! threw a rod not to scare you or anything but its hard to understand the sound on print
