Default Brakes Don't Work!!

Hi all-

My preludes brakes started acting up about two weeks ago, and about two weeks ago I noticed the ABS light on, just for no reason.. didnt feel any different, the light was just on..and it went off 10 minutes later after I turned the car off. It's only come on once since.

So my cars in the shop, I couldn't brake well - they worked but after i'd press them a certain amount it just felt like the pedal wouldnt go in anymore and i wouldnt stop any quicker..really scary stuff.

Shop says they can't find out whats wrong, pads arent the best but aren't contributing to the problem like this. Said that my rotors are okay too..
the check engine light code isnt stored apparently, ive had the negative off the battery many times with my subwoofer installation this past week, and havent seen the light since..

They're really unsure of what to do, and I dont want to pay them for doing jack squat.. anyone know other things to check? This light is so intermittent that I can't just leave it with em til it comes on, since its only been on for 10 minutes the entire time of owning the car, but the brakes are a permanent issue and aren't intermittent.

Thanks!

tell them to bleed the system and see if that helps. could be air in your lines. and tell them not to charge you an assload of money because 2 monkeys with a crack addiction can bleed brakes.

If they can stop trembling for a couple of minutes, that is...
