tire life ?
how long are your rear tires lasting?
i have flken grb fk451 245*40 17 on my rear and they are worn out....
and when i say worn, i mean all over the tire, not just on the inside edge....
i have not tracked or autocrossed on these tires and they have only lasted a little less than 7K miles....no burnouts.... proper inflation... etc....
thanks

Stocker's and we are at 8,500...still perfectly fine, look brand new. Its been drag raced a couple of times, couple of burn outs and light to light skurmishes to be honest, but primarily just highway driving and spirited mountain runs.
i am going to call your bluff on the stock tires lasting that long.....
they are bridgestone so2's right not something else......
edit: just looked at your sig, and you own an 04, however, i still dont believe it....

Bridgestone Potenza RE 050
Believe what you want...if it wasnt raining id go take pictures of them, they are still pretty much brand new, im sure they have a good bit of wear on them compared to when they were actually brand new but im saying, they still got PLENTY of life left in them...
But hey man, im not trying to convince you, you asked how long our tires were lasting and i told ya...i dont have any reason to lie to ya really...but i aint gonna go out of my way to prove it, not that important to me. And just to be 100% factual, the mileage is probobly closer to 8,300, not 8,500...i was just rounding up a bit, not that it matters much.

Ahh, that explains it. Definately not the OEM S02's, or else, 8500 is about it for me.
Rear tires, for most drivers, they last half as long as the fronts. For me? Not sure, I've been through various sets of tires, trying out different things, and I settle for the OEM S02's or RA1s (yes, on the street) because there is no other subsitution for grip. Mod your car all you want, but if you don't have a quality tire on the road, then there is no contact patch.

These are the OEM tires on our 2004...i didnt think that the tires varied from dealership to dealership, i was pretty sure thats what came on all of them, but hey, thats what we got...
i'm still on my stock SO2's.. with 12,000 miles on them..and yes i drive my car rather hard.. and have gone on a few drives though the twisties/mountains.... and they are still fine... not as good as when they were first put on.. but they still do the job....

Actually, i see what you mean...i was actually saying those things trying to convey that we dont abuse the tires much at all, most people really really push their cars and drive them hard, i was just saying that besides maybe a couple of burnoff's and street races we havent done much to them on the street...at the strip i hardly spun the tires so i doubt they got much abuse there either...and since about all we do outside my wife's daily driving to work is driving it in the north GA mountains for a few hours on a saturday or sunday, the car doesnt get much real hard driving.
Its all good man...

Me too, I have about 4,000 miles, and dont drive it very hard all the time, just occassionally. Still have a ton of tread left

i dont know how accurate this website is,
but i would run 215*45 17 up front and the 255*40 17 in the rear.....
i don't think there would be any rubbing issues, what do you think?

hey i have the same tires but 225/50/16 and 245/45/16 on stock wheels. the falken fk451's are Z rated, and it appears to me that the compound is much softer then most tires, especially the oem ones. the rears last me about the same time as you, even less, but i've been doing some donuts, and launches and hard driving. i'd say my last fk451s lasted me less then 5k miles for the rears, but my front tires still have plenty of tread left. i really like the fk451's i just wish they would last longer.

you don't drive hard at all
you don't drive hard at all
My '03 with BS 02's lasted 17K..Pulled them off in Nov. Getting pretty squirelly in the wet. Fronts at 19K are still fine. I do drive the car spirited and mainly around town.
