First of all i would suggest rod bolts wont make much of a diff unless your reving the **** out of the engine, rod bolts need to withstand tensile stress from faster piston speed and there associated inertia. Turbos add torque to make power so its the rod stem that takes load and hence rod bolts make squat difference here.

As to a power figure there rated too... dunno, would hate to guess without having any experience of boosted B18's. Suffice to say a NASP wont need rods for power reasons, maybe simply for weight saving where the Type R units are about 17% lighter than GSR.

hmm good explanation, thanks..
yeah i'll be running these up to 9200 rpm in the motor i'm building..
some may scoff at the power i'm looking to make.. but its over 220 whp with the ITBs, p/p head and race cams and valvetrain i have.. and RMF header..
the ITR rods sound like something i may have to look into

How much are rod bolts?

You know eagle rods and rod bolts are only like $300 right?

Summit Racing is selling those new arp 2000 pro rod bolts for like $60
then u gotta have them installed
at least i can do that in the machine shop myself
although i'll let my machinist resize the rods after i installed the bolts.. i'll be balancing these rods myself too

i love having access to the machine shop

This is one of those questions that can be answered a number of ways due to all the "what ifts".

It appears to me that most people can make 300-400whp on stock rods with stock rod bolts. But then the next question is, how long will it last. In most cases this is the persons main concern.

I think you mentioned that you weren't turbo'ing your motor so id wouldnt even get rod bolts. If your a worry wart like me then just get the 2000 ARP bolts, and if you can really afford it, eagle H beams from camp1320 or even my self are like 275-300 shipped.

HTH!

i'll be doing the rod bolts.. the thing i have a problem with for the eagle's is that they dont give any weight savings.. if i'm going to spend money on rods they're either going to be crower maxlites or something similar.

i ran 11.1@129.8 on stock rods and bolts (B17) with all of the other parts of the motor stock including head. I reved the motor to 9000 rpm. that was in a 2500 lbs car so you can guess the power since it was never dynoed. this actully lasted a quite a few passes till i blew the headgasket trying to spray it . the rods were still holding. If i was tearing apart the motor I would not be stock stuff back in though.

Should be about 361.2924294whp If my calculations are correct. (probably not)
