Default Clutch for my turbo gsr.

Hey guys, searched and read through a ton of posts, but none seem to fit my application. Im debating over the ACT HDss , and XTss with an xact 8.8lb FW. Im in the process of building my motor. So come summer im looking at daily driving around 300whp. With an occasional up of the boost at the track. The track is a good ways away from me so i won't be redline clutch droppin that much .

I want a somewhat different than stock feel that will handle the power daily driven. I've heard that the XTSS is a bit too stiff/harsh for DD. Yet i don't know if the HD will hold up as long.

Any suggestions ??

Thanks

i personally dont like the act for the stress it puts on the thrust bearings. i have had a CM Stage IV in mine for the last 3 years. never any issues with it. thats the one i recomend to all my customers.

the XTSS kit will be fine for the street, and hold a ton of power. we have had nothing but problems with the clutchmasters PP's and since have stopped and refused to sell them. I havent seen anyone have serious problems using the XTSS kit on the street.

If your interested PM me as we have specials going on for HT members. Thanx!

Also take a look into compitition clutch. I hear there clutchs are pretty good from people who use them. If I dont pick up a twin disk for my next setup, I'm going to run there Iron man clutch.

if ur only looking for 300whp then i would recommend the exedy stg2 as well. When my motor was making 294whp I had that clutch and it held up great. It is now on my gf's b16 and she grabs fourths all day. The pedal pressure is only a wee bit stiffer than stock too.

I have since upgraded to an ACT XTPP and 6puck disc and it is kinda hard for daily driving.

I'm going to go the twin-disc route as with many higher powered cars. my experiences with puck clutches have shown me the light. puck clutches are great for season to season runs, but daily driven don't seem to last very long. i'm gonna get either a twin or triple disk setup and hopefully never have to buy another clutch as long as i own my teg.

True.. But I guess I can't complain w/ over 400whp and 280ft/lbs on that same clutch on a regular basis for almost 2 years..
