Default Ignition Timing Question

I just finished my swap and now I need to do the ignition timing on the car. However, when I hooked up the timing gun and everything, I noticed that no matter how much I advance the distributor, the red mark on the crank pulley won't line up with the mark on the side cover. I've checked my cam gears to see if they skipped teeth and they checked out fine. I do have adjustable cam gears but I was able to time the motor when it was in my old car just fine and I never touched the cam gears during the swap. At this point, I am out of answers. Is there anything else that you guys could think of that is not enabling me to time my car? As of right now, it's drivable but the idle is horrible and the throttle response at idle is just as bad. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Your timing belt could be either too loose or stretched making your timing inaccurate or your cam sprockets have moved. I would verify that everything is tight and hand crank the motor around till you get it all lined up. If it does not line up or there is lots of slack I ould change the belt. It sounds stupid , but make sure you have the timing light pulse thinggy on the right plug wire.

Yea, that's what I was thinking about on my way home from work today. I'll check out the belt again this weekend. Thanks for the reply.

Remember to jump the check engine connector to to disengage the IACV, I think it will be easier to adjust.
