Hmmm... take out an engine that is like cord wood, has over 10 years in design into it..... and put in a honda engine....... with less hp........and less potential.........

whats your logic behind even wanting to do this. I am not just busting your *****, if you have a decent reason i would love to hear it. The 4g63 is wayyyy too good of an engine to disregard and replace with a honda engine. Just doens't make sense. It would be a bitch and i don't see a gain from it.

but anyway... i would love to see you do it if your hell bent on it

yeah, and even if you have a 420a, just buy a turbo kit.

Because something like the 4g64 is also an engine option in the 2nd gen eclipse, and the aftermarket for that pos SOHC is absolutely garbage. The only way to get any power from it at all is to do a cylinder head swap from a 4g63, which would likely take a lot more time, patience, and money depending on whether or not it goes smoothly. 4g63 swaps arent cheap either because theres a big misconception that the 4G63 is all good and dandy except for the part that itll literally have the most ridiculous and tedious little problems over its lifetime until they start getting worse and worse gradually over time. The 4g63 is an extremely flawed and fragile engine if not taken care of properly, so it can really be a money pit some people dont want to get into.

The 4g63 is actually a very flawed and fragile engine if not taken care of properly, and can be a huge money pit. Its known for it in the DSM community. Its also very expensive to get a used 4g63 compared to a honda engine, but with all the extra stuff you have to do to get that all going, it'll likely about level out in price. The 4g63 is only one of 3 different configurations they had in the 2nd gen eclipse. They had the 4g63, the 4g64, and the 420a. None of which are very reliable, but if you buy any DSM at all, thats what youre signing up for.
