Default DC Sports vs. OEM EX header

I have an f22a1 in my '92 LX I'm about to do I/H/E I was going to buy the ceramic DC sports header. The f22a6 has a different (better) header than my a1. should I try and bolt on the OEM Ex header insted of the DC?

Factory ex header from 94-97 are better than DC... I dont know if that would fit on your car, check into that though.

What makes the EX header from the 5th gens better then DC?? I dont understand that part? Is it better after cleaning out all the deposists from sitting on a 5th gen?

The DC header sucks, period. The most gains I've heard from a header on a EX accord was MAYBE 2hp. I've seen many dc headers crack, when was the last time you saw an EX header crack? If he wants to put it onto a different car (which I dont know if it would fit) He could easily clean out the header of all deposits before installation. Many will agree with me, some might not.

Id say get the stock EX header.

You should also look into the EX (F22A6) Intake Manifold.

I dont get why DC would create a header such that it has little or no gain as far as hp is concerned. If the stock header is better than aftermarket then what was the purpose of proudcing one in the first place. You would think an aftermarket part would be better than stock. Doesnt make too much sense as far as im concerned......

why does AEM make $200 intakes that give a 5hp MAX on any car???.....because they can make money.....its the same reason any compnay produces anything......any gains that are produced w/ a DC header are outweighted by its cost, and susceptability to crack at the welds, buts thats just my opinion

I don't know about everyone else but my DC ceramic 4-2-1's have been on the car for over 2 years and no cracks (slight color tone change as expected). I can't say exactly how much power was gained by the header but like anyone with some with a decent knowledge of performance knows, you can't just change ONE thing and expect a serious gain. After DC header, aem CAI, high flow cat, and VAFC I put 127 to the wheels with an auto trans. I have no regrets about ANY of my performance componants thus far.

the DC header that crack are the ceramic ones. cash out some extra loot and get the stainless steel one if your worried about that. if your totally anti DC then get the greddy SS header. its not just DC.. ANY ceramic coated header can crack.

ive had my DC ceramic header on my car for over 2 yrs and its fine. just a dent on the downpipe from bottoming out.

you dont hear about stock headers cracking because they are probably made of thick mild steel and their ports arent near as big, so the pipes are thicker and of course flow cant be better than an aftermarket header with larger ports but thinner walls (you gotta pay to play). not to mention they look like **** and rust like crazy. if you havent took a look under the stock heatshield yet.

lowered car + header = bottoming out which may lead to cracks. deal with it.

Let's just say that stock headers don't crack because they're rusted as heck. Rust actually makes the steel stronger but of course, no one likes rusty headers and will pay money to trade stock rusty headers to get aftermarket rusty headers.

Also, DC headers are better than stock headers because of improved flow designs. Ever seen the inside of rusty headers? Rusty, which makes for a not-so smooth finish inside the header. Not the best path for air flow if you ask me.

Lets see some dyno numbers of an EX accord running a stock header vs. DC... I don't have any, but they are a disappointment to anyone that pays for a DC. If you've got the extra cash to blow, go for it a header looks cool (i guess)...
If you've got an LX or DX it helps more, but look at an EX header design, its a 4-2-1 header, much nicer than any other factory manifold. Some of the extra power gained in the ex comes from the header which is designed differently than any other accord header.
Once again, if you are on a budget and want better flow, the ex header is what I'd recommend, but if you have lots of money to waste, buy a DC... or save up a little and get a greddy, they look better at least.

f22b1 (EX's) come with the 4-2-1 header from factory so yeah gains will be better on an f22b2 (LX/DX/SE). an aftermarket header on the f22b1 may only yield a few hp more than stock. people pay hundreds of dollars for boring throttle bodies and intake mani plenums for 3-5hp its just how it is. you gotta pay to play

for almost all SOHC motors an off the shelf header isnt going to give you a night and day difference. even with a combination of i/h/e it still wont make a day and night difference. thats just the way it is. i run i/h/e along with a 75 shot so its good to have the i/h/e combo, having a bottleneck in the mix would decrease gains.

but back on topic a f22b1 mani wont fit on the f22a's anyways.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by hondaracin24 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I dont get why DC would create a header such that it has little or no gain as far as hp is concerned. It is better, but what TSAF22b1 is saying is that for the money its not much better than the stock EX mani. DC header may only yield a few more hp then a stock EX mani but it probably yields more gains on an f22b2 so DC can market their header to both f22b1 and f22b2 because the headers for both motors are exactly the same except for o2 sensor location. they cant just make it for the LX/DX and skip the EX, they'd lose money that way.

the b1 header wont fit onto an A1, but the A6 is 4-2-1, and is an upgrade.....OEM headers arent more sturdy because their rusted.....rust makes metal weaker, so i have NO clue where you got that idea from...thats teh dumbest thing ive ever heard....their more solid because their cast iron, not welded mild steel......
