1998 GSR Projectors adequate for HID kit?
I'm looking into purchasing a HID kit for my car. I read *the* HID thread and I understand the pros and cons of using non-HID projectors, but I was just curious as to whether I could use the stock projectors and still get a nice beam pattern.
P.S. I was considering something like this perhaps: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...36476 Any comments on the quality? The Phillips kits seem more expensive. Are they worth the money?

I have phillips 4300k HIDs and I love them... if you've got 6000k and higher in a teg you're more likely to get pulled over though, since (or so I believe, location depending) you're no longer allowed to put HIDs in a car that didn't have them to begin with. I don't have any pics of the beam pattern at this moment, but if I'm feeling motivated I'll snap some later.
The projectors you really want (to use with any HID setup) is preferably projectors from any HID equipped vehicle such as BMW, Audi, Honda S2K.
GSR projectors are best suited to work with a halogen lighting system. In a case like this, you do not get the sharp cutoff that HID projectors offer and you will encounter cases of extreme glare.
So to answer your question: No the GSR projectors are not the most highly suited projectors for an HID setup, but many people use them as such with or without this in mind.

Maybe you should have tried the Integra forum instead.
But, I have HIDs and don't have any issuees with them.

Not to dis my brethren, but I tend to like the sort of posters that talk in the Type-R forums better
That beam pattern looks adequate to me. I just don't want to be blinding anyone.

The beam pattern will be adequate with 98+ Integra projectors and HID. You won't get the colour flicker, and there will be some glare, but not enough to get you pulled over.
I never get anyone complaining about being blinded by people or cops ( i have been pulled over a few time)...
As for the glare, what glare? All I can say is they work great and provide tons of usable light in all the right places.
I agree with "1500" stick to a color that close to white, anything else and the car does not look stock anymore. If there is blue or purple you will stand a greater chance of getting pulled over for it.

That kit you linked us to is for 9004/9005 which is the high beams. The low beams are 9006. Also, you should stay away from ebay hid kits. They tend to be ****.
I've actually had people tell me that my hid's have the "flicker", but that's not why I bought them. The put a crap load of light on the road, wider and farther than any halogen bulb can do.
