ive seen my old boss use it on various things, its a badass for sure. Just seeing what you experienced guys think of it. What i saw and what you or others may have experienced can always be two different things. :-)
I have a chance to buy it for 900$. its brand new never used. They are normally 1300$ or so.

Its a good machine if you never plan on welding aluminum. If you do ever want to weld aluminum get a machine that can do AC square wave...

If you want it solely to weld aluminum, it is a VERY BAD choice. You can weld aluminum with DC current, but you need helium gas, and it's harder to do for a beginner....and even with the experience I have, it's not what I would use for anything under 1/8".

I mean, there's some things that can be done, and some of those that are not a good idea...and getting this machine to weld aluminum is a bad idea. I'd NEVER reccomend this machine to somebody for aluminum work.

Also, $900 for the machine is no steal. You can get that price pretty regularly. The price on those machines are comming down a little. List price has stayed about the same since they came out new, but the dealers are selling them cheaper. I was at a shop just today and the guy threw out a figure of 850-900...and I wasn't even asking due to interest in buying one.

THe econotig is about the cheapest machine I'd reccomend for aluminum....or maybe the 180SD.

i just got ordered that machine but I ordered a STL model instead, it doesnt have HF start nor pulse, but it will be a big step up from a mig.
