93 accord 4 drs lowering
i heard that accord are not made to me lowered...meaning it is not a good idea to lower the car because of uncontrolable wear and tear on the tire...but i still want to lower my 93 accord so it would look good with my 17'' rims...what are the neccessary equipments needed so that i could lower it and it won't butterfly...i know that the camber kit on ebay doesn't work well...thanks...
You are going to want to get some spring compressors to do the job safely. When I did it on my 1990 there was almost no way that I would have been able to get that done withouth the compressors. As far as the camber issue and concern for feathering your tires, I wouldn't worry much about it. I have almost a 3'' drop on my ride on 17's and it looks good and my camber isn't off by much if at all. GL with the project and have fun. Just be sure that you take your time and put everything back on snugly and in the right order! Post some pics when you're done too, always good to see a fellow 4th gen getting some attention.
Thanks for the info...yeah...i believed after proper mod...the 4gen accord (90-93) look the best...well it just me...but...yeah...i pretty much have everything i need...just that now i'm save money for a full body repaint...planning to put all the aftermarket parts beginning of this summer...it well be out by then...
You won't have a problem with lowering it. You do wear bushings a little quicker since there is more stress on them, if you go anywhere from a 2" drop or lower use a camber kit or you will eat your tires up. I don't know how Assassin247 isn't having a problem, maybe he will a down the road. If your going to do it do it right.
I have a pretty stiff spring rate on my coilovers so it doesn't compress too much. I haven't noticed any really bad or uneven wearing yet but I have only had my car lowered for about 6 months or so. My camber really isn't off too bad though, you really can't see any angle in the camber at all. I'm pretty sure that the drop on my car is around 2''. I could be a bit off in my measurements though, I dropped it to just above where the camber starts to throw off. If you are interested I can send/post pics.
I highly recommend a camber kit. Advanced tire wear is unavoidable if your camber is out of spec, no matter the vehicle. Check us out at: http://www.camberkit.com for available kits and for Camber FAQs. Let me know if you have any questions.
