Letting go of ITR #1220, moving on...Subaru Impreza WRX STi style :)
Hey guys, just wanted to thank the "old-timers" on this forum for providing me with such great info on the Type R...pretty much everything I've learned about the ITR (actually anything automotive, now that I think about it) came from reading and posting here. After almost five years of daily driving and tracking the ITR, I felt that it was time to get a fresh start in 2005.
As far as new cars on the market, the STi has suited my needs so far. Here's a couple points I've found to be a "plus" over the R:
4 doors (easier to get in and out)
AWD (I live in Chicagoland)
decent stereo (6 disc in-dash. FYI, I'm not a "hi-fi" guy)
Sporty interior (steering wheel, red-illuminated gauges, shift ****, blue seats/trim)
climate control! (sounds like "cake", but it works great)
"toys" (intercooler spray, adjustable HID's, shift light/beep, gauges that sweep on startup, etc...)
cruise control
and most importantly...300 lb/ft of TORQUE! An extra 170 lb/ft of torque makes a big difference!
The car looks, sounds, and feels muscular as hell! It doesn't have the same clean lines as the R, though, and definitely doesn't have the same "tossable" feeling. One thing that I didn't like about the R was the plain interior, which was pretty sporty for its generation. The hatch on the R was so handy for loading and unloading compared to a sedan.
The STi definitely has a more aggressive attitude to it, maybe almost a bit too much with the massive scoop and "Wright-Brothers" wing on the *** end of the car. The gold 17" BBS wheels and gold Brembos look nice as hell though.
Once again guys, thanks for all the help over the years. When I get some more miles and track time in the new hoopty-ride, I'll be back with some updates.

Pick ONE of the links below, one is AVI, one is QuickTime. A "sick" display of horsepower! After watching this, I knew I must have this car. Yikes.

Good luck. You'll need it with the supposed 8" of snow we will be getting over the next 24 hours or so. I thought about one for a while, but couldn't let go of the R. However, mine isn't daily driven either.
Best of Luck though, nice purchase

I don't think I could replace my R with anything, But I could see myself behind a steering wheel of an STI as an addition.
What made you get the blue?
I would pick Black for a badass car like that despite the headache that comes with owning a black car.
Good luck with it but don't be a stranger to H-T
Oh maybe you want to come to expo5 and take it around the track (maybe with me as a passenger)

Negatives of the STi:
- Depreciation
- $32,295
I'll probably try to pick up a used one in about 2-3 years. Although I think I'd learn more towards an A4.

This is so awkward cause I was at the Schaumburg Subaru dealership a few days ago contemplating the same thing. I've driven an STi before and it pulls hard for a four-banger, but it didn't have the tossable factor as teh R did. My buddy just got an EVO, and man that thing is JUST like the R. Decisions, decisions.
