JDM motors stronger than US motors?
are the JDM motors built better than SDM ones?
how come the UDM GS-R motor is rated at 180hp and teh USDM 170?
if a GSR motor were to die on day, would it be wise to jsut swap for a JDM one?

all kinds of typeos... but only the compression is different between the b18c and c1.. pistons are different too i think. are you planning on blowing up your b18c1?? then sure.. put a jdm b18c in
my keyboard has some stuck keys sry for the typoes
thing is - i cant afford anything more than a '96 GS-R and most of those cars have 130k+ miles.
so i figure if that motor goes eventually, why bother repairing it = just drop a JDM motor in down the line.
that way i can rationalize and dont worry about a decision to get a high mileage car

I currently have a b18b in my 93 Ls...
I bought it off ebay it only had "60,000" miles on it. Since the day I installed it, it has needed valve seals.
So do you think a b18b1 would need new valve seals if it only had "60,000" miles on it?
I dont know what to believe about the JDM engines.
Other than that I am very happy with my JDM b18b

It is not rated at 180whp because it is built better. In CA iw would not be wise to get a jdm engine. If CT has better SMOG rules then get whatever engine you can get your hands on. The only advantage I see is that some of the B18C (non itr) come with a LSD.

thats exactly why i like the JDM motor... the free LSD
also the JDM swaps come with a new tranny. if i'm getting a car that has 130k i dont trust the person before me no matter what, i'd rahter just start fresh. drive the GS-R with the stock motor for a year, and save up for a swap, and start over fresh.

I have the SIR-G engine in my integra and I love it. Great power! And its not hard to get more power because of the Higher compression.
It's only plausable that those engines are (in theory mind you) beaten the hell out of. Thats just my personal opinnion. Although, Honda motors are no joke, and love to last when taken care of. Going back to the JDM motors are if not beaten on, they're beaten on a hell of alot. When they have to actually swap out a new motor (by Japanese law) you'd figure "What the hell, it's going to someone else I'll beat the hell out of it." Although, you do have to factor in, they use quite a bit higher octane rating, if knowledge serves me right. Even with all those 'theory' cons, I'd still purchase it for the lsd.
