Well i bought a integra gsr but previous owner did not smog it recently and I failed pretty bad on the smog test. I turned off the vtec controller when they administered teh test. I should know better to buy a car without getting it smogged first but the previous owner left for Iraq the next day and sold his car to me. I have two weeks to figure out how to pass smog. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

I thought of now i might tell my friend to replace the ctr with gsr's but thats alot of work so im hoping any other options if possible to pass. Or would it have been better to leave the vtec controller on because of the setting to the ctr cams?

My first integra 98 gsr had vafc back then an i passed smog easily by leaning the fuel ratio back then (year 2000) I dont know how to work the fields one so any feedback about it is appreciated.

The car is a 96 so it is an ob2 gsr

lean out the fuel and raise the vtec cross over. run 97 octane gas. change your oil and check your spark plugs.

First off: Holy Crap, over 10,000 posts!!!!!!

Check you timing, if it is off just a bit you will fail.

Do a search. There have been some great threads about passing smog. There was a long one from a guy who failed a few times and finally passed. He listed jsut about everything he did to finally pass.

 

thanks 4 the replies im going to configuring the vtec controller and get an oil change tommorow and maybe a tuneup...i called one of my buddy mechanic friend to help me pass since he is going to own his own test station. Ive actually tried a search but got 2 posts that didnt help.
