Weight savigns, how light can you get
well im in the market for a new car, and a rsx is one of them
iv done a little research, motors are making nice power etc
only thing that bothers me is the weight, they are a little on the porkey side
questions what are some things you can do to lighten them up, i dont know anything about these, never even sat in one
i want to keep the power steering, might take out the air conditioning
prob get light race seats, take out rear seats, remove spare and tools things like that
but are there some more things you can remove to shed some more weight
and with things said above what do you guys think the weight will be at

well there's always the spare tire and the rsx-s has a subwoofer in the spare tire console. the seats really are heavy, so thats a bit. just wheels and CF hood unless you want to start gutting a/c, powersteering, back seats.
yeah like i said ill take out
spare/tools/sub
a/c
back seats
light weight front race seats(of course with appropriate roll bar and stuff)
prob get carbon fiber hood, and maybe carbon fiber hatch
light weight 16's prob spoon sw388's unless i find some lighter or as light 16's that i like
is there anything else im missing

Porky?
how's it so porky? with a curb wieght of a little over 2700 lb for a car making 170 whp, thats not really porky. EP3s are porky lil bitches but I wouldn't say a type S is.

Yeah they are... poor EP3.
The back seat and the spare tire and jack is good for around 70-80lbs, get rid of all the seatbelt buckles in the back (8 ish lbs). Front seat is around 40 lbs each I believed, and after market one (dependent) can be 12lbs. Stock battery is 35 lb, you can replace with with a lighter one... I believed there is a good one at 12.5 lb. there is also a CF sunroof/moonroof inseart (where you take out the glass and the motor and replace wiht a sheet of carbon fiber) - good for around 40 lbs. lighter header, lighter exhaust and such can save around 25-30 lbs. I am sure that there are plenty of other item you can take out too....

just wanna know if the car feels that heavey, and big, cuz i hear mixed opinions, i just wanna hear from actual oweners

Glass is pretty heavy. smash all your windows.
seriously though, you could go with lexan, or that type of replacement windows someone was making... can't remember the name. almost as light as lexan but much cheaper. Also didn't scratch like lexan. ...

This is my opinion on a daily driven car:
-Spare tire, jack, tools (if you don't worry about getting a flat)
-Drain all the washer fluid, remove the wipers. (easy eneough to put back on)
-Racing seats and remove rear seats ( if you don't want passangers)
-ALL sound deadening material
-Gut the trunk of its panels and carpet. (nobody sees it anyway)
-I/H/C/E usually all weigh less than the OEM parts
-Floormats or the whole carpet (up to you)
-Clutch and flywheel upgrade
-Lightweight 16inch rims/tires.
-Carbon fiber hood and trunk.
-Take out anything you don't really need inside the car.
Things I don't suggest:
-Front/rear bumper supports ( I don't know why people do this)
-Airbags (I want all the safety I can get)
-ABS (^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^)
-P/S. On a track day I think it would be ok to disconnect the belt, but otherwise no
-Radio and speakers ( I like tunes)
A/C ( it gets hot here in NY)
AC and PS are really up to the owner, IT's not unsafe to remove these so I don't see a problem with it.

They just did an article on this end of last year (skunk 2 ep3)and i was in the same boat as u.I gutted rear seats and sound denting under seat and type-r seats (lil diff). But them when it came to wheels other rsxers say they weight 16lbs. stock and for 16 inch thats very good.so Theres my two cents.
