LED Tail light bulbs
Has anyone replaced there 1157 Brake lights with 1157 LED lights?
and if so, do they work fine?
i attemped to put them in my GSR, but they do not light up all the way, very very dim... i thought it was the bulbs but i test them in another car and their fine.
Thoughts?

You probably got the LED bulbs that have several in a round cluster that all face the same direction. In an Integra, it's only going to make a red spot inside the lens because none of the LED's are directed towards the reflector inside the lens.
I have seen some new automotive LED replacement bulbs that have LED's in a sperical-type cluster, w/ LED's facing in all directions. I would think those would be alot more effective as you would have the light coming from the LED's bouncing off the reflector and illuminating a larger area of the taillight lens.

Have you seen or tried the ones I described? They're pretty new I think. I'm sure they would be alot more effective than the regular "straight out" LED bulbs we're used to seeing.

I think this calls for some research

Here we go, it has 15 LED's aimed 360 degrees around all sides, and 3 pointing straight back. Since most of the light from Integra tail and brake lights is reflected light from the reflector inside the housing, I would think these would work pretty well in our taillights.

better than regular bulbs? I don't know, only way to find out would be to try them. They would last alot longer, though, and have that cool instant on/off effect that LED's have.

It was posted on HIDplanet sometime last week I think.
*edit* they're available from one of the eBay Store vendors.
mmmm I want them, but it would be around $70-$80 just for 2 red brake lights and 2 amber front bumper lights.
Red 1157's: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33713
Yellow 1157's: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...34559
They also have a turn signal flasher made for using LED's or any other kind of lighting. Supposedly it flashes 60 cycles per minute, regardless of how much voltage is passing through it: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...96378

You can solve the directional hotspot problem by sanding the LED with a dremel or something. This will cause internal refraction and will give a even light diffusion. You can also do this to LEDs for use in gauge cluster retrofits.
You will notice that the blinkers will go crazy fast with the use of LED signals due to its low resistivity. But instead of buying that flasher replacement, you can go to radioshack and and buy a resistor to mod your current flasher to compensate. I have a potentiometer set up so that I can adjust the speed of blinking as necessary.

Review of those 360 degree LED bulbs: http://hidplanet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2444
Not sure if they would be good for Integra brake lights or not.

thats alot
most people that do led conversions to taillights cut the backside of the taillight off(just the area with the bulb hole), then make a panel of leds in the same shape to replace it.
