i have a 94 civic ex with stock motor with alot of miles on it. i am just wondering why my car makes this noise. it seems to happen at around 6300 RPM. i have a AEM intake and an APEX'I N1 exaust. is there anything i could do so i could still go to redline without haveing it make that noise. i am thinking it is Preignition but i am not sure if anyone could tell me what it is and how i might be able to fix it that would make me happy thanks

get rid of your rev limiter so you can hit 9k.

v-jesus is trying to cast the light, but your rev limit is the bottleneck.

if its making like pinging sound try adding some octane boost, maybe you got some bad gas, but it could be a lot of things

 

thanks i will try that. but i also read somewhere that it could be from bad timing or something i am not quite sure that is why i was asking cuz i dident know what to search for any other help would be good

 

oh and also it isent a like pinging it is more of like a poping noise coming from the intake

 

Well your problem is you think your stock EX motor with high miles is a race motor, no son, its not.

When was the last time you had a tune-up, or had your ignition system checked?

Do you feel like you're driving a JGTC car sometimes and feel the need to go full throttle? Don't. Your car is nowhere near a race car, so do not drive it like so.

Simple problem, simple solution.

 

tune up and all checks not done long agow but yea thanks for stating the obv. and cuz it has high miles doesent mean it cant hit red line. the car should not make that noise at all. unless something was wrong.

yea i wish my car was putting out enough power to do that but when it starts happening i cant go any faster in that gear

 

Get a timing light and check the timing y0!

Um.......not sure how to explain it...........it should be on the "middle" line when viewing it from the timing......thinger. I dont know, maybe someone has a how-to on checking your timing.
