Failed BAR ref today, does anybody have one of these???? Help? Gross polluter!!
I failed at the smog ref today for a couple of reasons, some of my vacum lines were hooked up improperly, got all those straightened out, but I also have to find an "x-pipe" or at least thats what the smog ref called it.
This is the pipe/vacum line that comes out of the top of the valve cover and goes into the intake arm. It also has a line running alongside it to carry coolant, hence the name "x-pipe". Does anyone have one of these lying around? or even know what I am talking about?
Yeah my emissions were also WAY high so I failed miserably, here are my numbers.
HC CO NO
Max Meas Max Meas Max Meas
15mph 121 172 0.76 0.77 807 2597
25mph 96 153 0.65 0.77 746 2360
So as you all can see my numbers suck!
Anyone have any suggestions? Will routing all the vacum lines properly have that much affect on my tailpipe numbers or should I just go get a new cat as well? I need help.....

I know the "x-pipe" you are talking about. It's a hard metal line. When people install aftermarket intakes, they use the hose that comes with the kit and tuck this "x-pipe" out of the way. Unfortunately, people still need the other part of the line to connect the to two rubber hoses.
Check your 02 sensor and cat. Cuz that's how I failed my ref exam with a 12 year old cat and a burnt out 02 sensor.
wow i thought my car was bad... i was at 1800 for the 15 and 1500 for the 25
and this was with a jdm header

If it was my O2 sensor wouldn't it give me that code? Yeah I am planning on buying a new cat, I already demonkeyed my vacum lines and have ordered that x-pipe thing that I was missing.
by the way it is $30 for the test $38.25 with the cert if it passes with one free retest. not too bad...

Not exactly. O2 could be dead and still not throwing a code. Also, your NOX levels are VERY VERY high, you running some high compression pistons in that thing?

no as far as I know it engine has stock internals, I did rebuild it just swapped it in. It has about 90k on it.
thanks about that pipe but I already order it, about 18 bucks....
so you guys think my O2 could be dead too huh? how much are those usually?

Expensive.. You running a chipped ECU? Thing is this.. With NOX levels that hight it shows you have VERY hot cylinder temps. This is usually from either excessivly high compression or a lean burn. Could also be a failing cat as well.
