I finished the exterior, suspension, wheels/tires and now the motors left. I have a LS integra that just hit 100,000 miles. It is my daily driver and i occasionally will take it to the track. Im stuck in deciding what to do as far as the engine goes. I currently have bolt-ons. Now of course money is an issue but what will be the best way to go. I know LS is great for turbo but then i must build my bottom end and i could go on spending money forever... and i know ls vtec is cheaper but may be less power and more of a mechanical nightmare... what are your thoughts for my situation .. my goal is anywhere between 200 - 275hp. What will be the best for my higher milage car and daily driver use + whats better for when i take it to the track ?? thanks and yes im searching into each
with a greddy turbo kit, intercooler, and BOV ... 200+ hp range is easily attainable with proper tuning w/o building the motor... i 2 thought ls/vtec but if you read up on it there are ALOT of problems mostly since the rod ratio is a POS and most lsvt that arn't built are f*k'd after awhile so after learning more i decided to ditch that route.
I have a modified greddy kit on my Del sol with an LS and love it , but if you have the cash do both. You can always get one and do the other later. Trust me once you go turbo you will never want to go back
If you're gonna chose between the two I'd say turbo. Of course, building either option right is gonna cost ya. But, I'd say built ls/vtec the right way for daily driving and especially that hp goal will be all but unattainable. Now turbo....that's a different story.
<----stock LS right now too w/b16 pistons. Wishes he had money too.

go turbo, less problems to deal with and you will realistically get around 170 hp with a greddy bolt-on at 7psi. That's a good start if you don't want to hassle with too many motor problems and 200 hp is attainable.

....is the way to go!!! i was in your shoe... i have a 95 ls with 143,xxx miles...i have a blown 16g turbo from an eclipse gsx...it's my daily driver... my rings are fried and my starter is kinda jacked. i have to keep cranking over for it to start...im not blamming the turbo for condition off my car... i have been doing research... i came up with.... n/a is better if you BUILD your car up right and dont take shortcuts !!! cost wise i heard lsvtec is cheaper long run... but then someone could prove me wrong... but just do your own thing and keep doing research...

ummmm a turbo can be just as reliable, and building it properly is the key with modding ANY motor

exactly, 170 to the wheels with just the basic turbo out the box, no intercooler, nothing. potential for greatness though

Well since you are in CA like me, I will reccomend getting a CARB legal turbo kit, unless you have other cars then don't worry about it. I am currently going throush some doo-doo with B.A.R. and the DMV, makes me wish I had kept the original engine sometimes.
