Default Oil Question

I just changed the oil on my hatch for the first time yesterday and when i started it up it looked like oil was leaking from the filter...... So I loosened it up and tried it again, but still the same thing..... This has never happened before what could be wrong. I put a fram filter on and it doesnt look as wide as the one i had before.......DOH

Make sure that rubber ring comes on oil filters came off with the old filter. Happened to me as well. Let's just say 12 quarts of oil later, I figured it out.

You answered your own question, bro. FRAMS SUCK!!! Go get yourself a good filter. I use Purolator PureOne's. They list for $13.50, but Pep Boys sells them for $5.95 --- smokin' deal! Take a peek at what I use. I wouldn't put a FRAM on my lawn mower...

Damnit, I have to agree with BDC on this.

I'm just not sold on the Redline MTL. I've tore apart to many Honda trannys with bad bearings that were running the red stuff.

Others have mention using the better Redline tranny fluid, also like a gear lube.

Hey, you know, if you bros would buy GOOD oil filters, you don't need to monkey around with half-baked cures. Look at my PureONE filter, pictured above. The "gasket" is Teflon. Just like good women, good filters don't need any K-Y Jelly...

I use Honda filters. I used pure ones but i noticed the part # (pl14459) is used on other cars too, American cars, so I decided to stick with whats made for my car. Make sure if you buy a filter like that, the filter inside the box matches the number on outside. I ve bought filter b4 and some shmuck swapped filters. He bought 1 filter and put six dollar filter in his box. So i buy 6 dollar filter and get 1 dollar filter or wrong #.Had car apart before i looked at filter. Had to wait for ride to auto part store.

Red Line Water Wetter is a surfacant. It keeps big bubbles from forming on your block and head when your coolant starts to boil, like during extended street racing. It's corrosive as hell and needs to be dumped every 15,000 miles. Don't use it if you don't understand how it works...

Red Line MTL and MT-90 are two different products. I run MTL in the winter and MT-90 in the summer. Unlike most Honda OE products, their 'dinosaur juice' MTL isn't worth a ****.

Water Wetter is the bomb, literally. Just remember to change it every 15k [per Red Line's instructions] and you'll be okay. Secondly, don't use anything but Honda anti-freeze in a Honda product.

Without getting into a long story, Honda did a LOT of research on [normal] coolants, and their effect on Honda engines, and couldn't find anything that met their criteria. So, they [had someone] make their own. Honda antifreeze is different than anything else on the market. Be smart or you'll end up with a leaker - guaranteed!

Why does Papadakis need a filter? Duh! Hello?!?!? He probably changes his oil every mile or so. You don't think it might be because 'they' are paying him, do you???

Good luck, bro. Honda oil filters suck too!

Japs save the best for themselves. Look at your Honda oil filter. If it says "Made in Canada" it's a POS. If it says, "Made in USA" it's even worse. The only Honda filters that are any good say, "Made in Japan" on the side. They come OE on the S2000. Other than that, you're **** out of luck...

Save yourself a LOT of aggrevation and buy a PureONE.
