Default Some pics of my turbo setup

I finally got some pics of my homemade turbo setup. I also got a pic of my newly modified hf manifold that I got modified to fit an external wastegate incase anybody is interested in seeing how to do that.

just playing around with the new camera

have you run it at full op temps yet? and how sure are you that the brazing will hold up to vibration and heat?

I heard brazing anything onto the mani like that wasn't a very good idea.

i'm running 8psi right now with the new wastegate. I was running 9-10psi with the old messed up internal wastegate that caused my spool times to be insanely slow and I ran a 14.1 @100mph untuned. Now i'm semi tuned with 8psi.

i have run it quite a bit since i got the new wastegate on there. I am pretty confident that it will hold up find. The guy that did it is a very well known welder and actually had a couple scca race cars in the garage that he was doing work for. He has done work for a few of my friends as well that looked very nice.

Yea its not the best braze.
I seen another guy on here do this but I have yet to hear how the "bond" can hold up to the constant heat cycles that it will see.

props for the brazed mani.... i have had to repair three of those that people migged thinking it would work.

I have brazed cracks on two manifolds that have held up well over time. I just brazing when in a budget situation.

I dunno i guess we will see. Seeing some of the other stuff this guy has welded I trusted him with doing my wastegate flange. I know its not the prettiest thing, but he seemed confident that it would hold up. I wasn't really under the impression that brazing was suppost to look as clean as normal welds. I don't know **** about welding though .

MShue you still running the 59300 ?

BTW, This is 1493cc from the D board.

Your setup looks sweet.

Just flat black over the brazing.

Nice. I would put a piece of hose or something between the ss oil feed and that vacuum line though. It could rub a hole into the vacuum line over time...and since it's the wastegate vacuum line, you definitely dont want a hole in that

Good point. Those lines will put a hole in concrete.

thanx a bunch man. I am still running the 59300. I actually threw the stock cam in recently, but once I got the new wastegate and the boost stopped creaping and all that i noticed that the top end was seriously lagging compared to when i had the cam. I threw it back in and the car pulls way better up top now.

i had my friends dad do some brazing on some parts that were cracked on my menifold, and it just cracked everywhere that the brazing was. I ended up getting it welded and never had the problem again
