Default Motul 300V Le Mans 20W60 - my car burns oil, will this help?

My B18 burns alot of oil on track... alot. I don't have any money to rebuild it this winter. At our last event at the Glen, I realized I couldn't even go 25 minutes without having burned so much oil the vtec was no longer coming on. I forget if that was a 30 or 40 weight, but I switched to a 15W50 pennzoil after the first day of the event and it was lasting much longer, maybe an hour. I hope to have a Motul sponsorship for 2005 and noticed that they have a 20W60 oil, recommended for endurance races. Is there any downside to using such an oil? I don't care that much about power, I want reliability. I will be doing mostly sprint races of no more than 30 minutes but hope to run some enduros later in the season. I also plan to do alot of testing. I'm just wondering what oil people might recommend for a situation like this. If I have to use Motul, they make 10W40 and 15W50 as well. The engine is a B18c1 block (stock) with a B16a head (ported, polished, stock cams). Also, I have heard that I can overfill the oil up to one liter without any problem. If anyone can confirm this, it would be useful as I would again be able to run longer. Thanks for any advice.

why don't you skip a few events and save up for a rebuild

I would recommend a baffled pan (mugen - about $220, comes with a new gasket and you can sell your stock pan for $60-$70), a slight overfill and a 15w50 300v - its a much better oil to start with, but the thicker weight is still a bandaid for blowing tons of it past the rings. If you can get the 300v for free, do it, its good stuff - just not recommended for street use extended-drain intervals.
