Default I'm goin in

My car has been emiting a considerable amount of smoke and is not running right. So I have been thinking since I am gonna have to change the timing belt within 6 months i thought I might as well do some work. I was thinkin about port and polish the head. Up the compression and maybe a crank swap? Now here are the questions. Which pistons(budget)? Does the H23 crank really work and make a difference? What about the h23 crank pulley and harmonic balancer. I heard that you could rev higher with it. Is it worth getting a JDM type S head? Should I P&P my stock head and who could do it properly at a good price? Thanks for any answers. Let me know if anybody is selling there stuff at a descent price.

type S is not worth it. Build your own, using crower cams.

I would think a port and polish on a stock head would flow air just as well as a Type S head and it will definitely be cheaper. JE makes good pistons and JUNs are just too expensive. If you don't plan on going with a mild NA setup you could probably get away with arias pistons to save some money.

Dude, Arias pistons are just as good as JE. I haven't had a single moments trouble out of mine (and I don't have a *mild* N/A setup). And they aren't any cheaper than JE.

How much does resleaving cost? I was thinking about the JE 11.5:1 with a thinner head gasket.
