Same motor. Pick which crank you prefer.

They aren't apples to apples... consider price and intended mods.....

You know what I mean B16 torque to B18 torque is a HUGE difference

If I wanted alot of torque I sure wouldn't drive a Honda

Dude the motors are basically the same other than crank pistons and rods, how is it garbage? 185hp in a na 1.6 is pretty impressive IMO. To the original poster get the ITR motor

Exactly. An Integra needs a 1.6 liter motor like a hole in the head.

overwhere a B16B (rarer) costs as much as a b18-cr (96sped), so really b18 is the way.

b16b is good choice but if your paying 4500 for one I would get a ITR motor.

if your getting a good deal on a 16b hop on it won't be dissapointed.

I have drove both motors nothing compares to how the 16b revs.

Only a idiot will say a LS is better then a b16b.

It has mad torque yo

I love it when people argue about whats better. I don't really have and experience with a B16B but I like the ITR cause I figure they are easier to get a hold of, easier to prove they are legit, and easier to get a honest history of the motor. Plus I havn't seen many B16B's go for much less than a C5. Just my opinion.

Here's how I look at it. What kind of technology does the bigger motor have vs the smaller one? In the case of the B18C5 vs the Ecotec, the Ecotec is far behind. It was made to provide decent power and economy for the masses, not burn pavement. Yes, it may have more torque. But actually not much (especially considering its displacement) due to the fact that it was not made to be a pavement burner. So in cases like these where you are comparing a smaller, high-tech motor to a larger, low-tech motor, the larger, low tech motor only wins if it is ALOT bigger (ie LS1 vs B18C5). The Ecotec just isn't bigger enough than the B18C1 (or B18C5).

On the other hand, if we are comparing the B16B with the B18C5, the technology used on both motors is equal. Hell, they even share many of the exact same parts! In fact, all that is REALLY different is the reciprocating assembly. In this case, the displacement wins out. Even if that difference is not too large.

I should also note that the difference between the B16B and B18C5 is going to be more significant than C30 vs C32. The 200cc increase represents a MUCH larger percentage increase when going from 1.6 to 1.8 than when going from 3.0 to 3.2. Also, because the B16B and B18C5 have such larger specific outputs than the C30 and C32, that 200cc increase carrys with it a MUCH larger power increase.
