E Type Service on 2001 Civic DXG - Is it all what it's cracked up to be?
I expect to have my first 'E' Type service as required at 96,000 KMs this month. I expect it to cost $259.88 CAD and include the following:
Replace engine oil* and filter.
Service front and rear brakes.
Rotate tires**, inspect for wear and adjust pressure.
Lubricate all hinges, locks, and latches with multipurpose grease.
Inspect tie rod ends, steering gear box and boots.
Inspect suspension components.
Inspect driveshaft boots.
Inspect parking brake adjustments.
Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS).
Check all fluid levels, condition of fluids, and check for leaks.
Inspect cooling system hoses and connections.
Inspect exhaust system.
Inspect fuel lines and connections.
Check all lights.
Inspect the underbody.
Inspect and adjust drive belts.
Replace dust and pollen filter.
Replace air cleaner element.
While I am not mechanically inclined I am growing skeptical of the necessity of bringing my car to a shop to have this done. However, living in an apartment complex renders these tasks difficult to complete in our common parking lot. Are the above items worth the $250 and are there any special tools required that would allow me to do this myself?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

well oil change is just that. brakes can be changed fairly easily lubricate the hinges and stuff can be done easily. do you know what to look for on the mechanical parts??

Not familiar with all the components they are lubricating. I also noticed they recommend replacing spark plugs at 96,000 but it isnt included in the E type service. I'm a bit nervous about attempting that on my own as I know they need to be spaced properly

spark plugs are pregapped when you buy them (at least when you get NGKs). You can do all of the above yourself depends how hands on you are. If you don't know what you are doing let them take care of it, if they really change your brakes then I would say $250 is kind of low (is this a dealership or some low ballers shop?).
