which turbo should i run??
im changin from all motor to boost. and my question is. i wanna run around 10-12psi boost on the street. and then run 20-25 on the track. just curious what would be a good choice of turbo to run for that set up. its on a B18c1. thanx.
P.S. before anyone flames. of course i will have it fully built with sleeves and forged internals. was gonna go with 84mm bore. and about 9:1 cr.

I always thought that having a car tuned for 10-12 psi and then jacking it up to 20+ at the track was a big no-no...
But eh, I think a good search should do you good. =] Also as a side note, is this a daily driver?

if i run AEM, i thought i could have 2 sets of maps saved on a laptop. and change them whenever i want. so when i go to the track. i just reload the differenty maps for that boost level. maybe im wrong tho??
i dont really have a desired hp number in mind. obviously as much as possible. but it is a daily driver tho. 350whp for the street would bwe nice. and close to 450whp for the track.

I used to run an HKS GT2835, that thing made a little over 300whp on my car and spooled extremely fast, It's a nice turbo and it can make up to 400hp or so. I would suggest something similar to what im using now, i am really pleased with my current setup. Right now im running a Garrett GT30, is spools a little bit slower but makes much more power, I made 380whp at 15lbs on my lsvtec, my roomate put down 554whp with this turbo but wanted more power so he is now using a GT3040. I think a GT28 or a GT30 would be good turbos for what you want to do.

about what rpm does that gt30 spool at?? i do alot of autocross. so i dont want something too lagy. if it spools by 2000rpm it should be fine tho.

i dont think you will see full boost from a gt30 at 2000rpm...... that just from me reading here on honda-tech... havent seen anything like that.
I would be interested in the gt28 or gt30 also..... which is going to be a faster car though is my question....... if both are putting out around 300 hp i would guess the gt28 because of spool times.
Dont want to get to crazy on the street... wont hold traction.

You live in Forth Mcmurray where the highway is the track. I know I have been there. BTW you can not have early spool and lot of top end HP at the same time. Because a small turbine will give an early spool but will choke the top end. You will have to choose the power band you want. Get at least a T04e 60 trim compressor and .63 a/r min turbine.

well, if you want something that spools that fast, then disregard what i said earlier about a SC-61 or Gt 35r
you will need a pretty small turbo and dual ball bearing if possible, but you won't be able to make much power with something that small, maybe 300whp

300hp. thats it?? what kind of boost would i be running to acheive that??

I dont think you get how desired boost for track will effect things for street driver..
I see alot wanting 2 major diff boost setting, on usually for the street and other fr track.
Truth be told you will also want a 'street turbo' and then when you go to the track you swap the boost level AND the turbo.
Something thats capable of 20+psi for track will be useless on the street and autoX will be rather unrewarding.
MORE POWER = MORE LAG
No rocket science involved
Just get a setup for the track and use that on street too, use right foot as a power controller, not a boost controller limited boost. Just get 2 maps for street and race fuel
All IMO

ya sounds like a good idea. so what kinda boost should i be able to run on the street?? i was hoping for around 12psi on the pump gas
