Default 16" street tires

I know this has been beat to death..

Time as come.

Falken 215/45/16 azenis $105 each, Last about 15000 miles
vs
BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KD 225/50/16 $160 each
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...1=yes
vs
Kumho 225/50/16 $109 each
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...1=yes
vs
BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 225/45/16 $130 each
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...1=yes

Here is what im looking for out of street rubber.
Able to hold 300-350whp, last up to 15000miles, cost less then $160 each, fit on a 16x7.5 advan rg.

What do you guys think, I already have falken azenis 215/45/16, not a bad tire at all..

When I first read this I almost thought "wrong forum," but then it hit me...I have the same dilemma. I have 16 x 7 rims w/ yokohama 204 45 16 paradas, and though they were fine for na duty, I am now fi with 300+whp and the tires are completely useless in 1st and 2nd (gsr tranny), and some serious throttle modulation is needed to keep 3rd from going up in smoke. Mind you, I have a quaife, all new suspension (poly bushings/koni/h&r, new upper control arms w/ camber, tie rod ends ends/ball joints alignment, etc..
I am considering
1) traction bars
2)a laggier turbo (have a .48 exhaust t3/t4) so maybe I can delay boost in the first two gears (not sure if this is worth the cost)
3) and of course that brings me to your post

hopefully some high hp honda guys with 16" rims can chime in and give some opinion on what size tires will fit...

The BFG KD's only come in 25" diameters which might be hard to fit under your fenders, that's something to think about.

i have tried alot of 16" tires, heres my opinion

555R, not REALLLLY sticky, but decent. nowhere near as sticky as advertised, but they last somewhat long for what they are. I have had 2 sets, i will never have another set

kumho victoracers, 225 50 16(25.2"), somewhat sticky, didnt really like them, wheelhopped real bad (from the stiff sidewall)

dunlop SPs 225 50 16 (25.2"), i really really liked these

next tires?

BFG 255 50 16 (26.1")
or
M/T ET Streets. 26"

but that requires significant cutting, etc. i recommend the dunlops

Why can't someone just make some 215/45/16 drag radial so i can run 11's and look good doing it

Ricers shouldnt be allowed to go fast.

jp, the 16 DR's out there are pretty meaty from my recolection. too much to drive on IMHO

Why not move up to a 17? I have the 205/40/17 BFG drags on my car right now, I heard they might be getting discontinued but I havn't heard anything. For a 17" tire they hook great, but not enough mileage.

Does anyone know why Nitto doesn't have sport compact size of 555R's? A 205/50/15 would be amazing, but all they have is a 205/55/14 which is no dice for me.

How are the BFG drag radials in 17"? The thing I might be concerned about is the sidewall stiffness of these tires. The sidewalls on the 15" tires are kinda soft, and if they're soft on the 17", it'll only take one small ditch in the road and you'll have a nice bent wheel.. How is the sidewall stiffness compared to a "normal" tire? What kinda mileage you getting with them?

i agree...I don't see the point in running a drag radial so big that really limits you ability to drive the car regulary on the street. If it came ot that point i would just run slicks. I really want to run in the 11's while keeping the car looking like its driven like that everyday..

how are the 17's? I had a 225/45/17 on my m3 before and they hooked decent...I'll step up to a 17" rim if the 205 hooks ok..

Ya the Nitto 555r's suck because they have shitty sizes. I remember using a 205/45/15 and they were GARBAGE.. The sidewalls were tiny and somewhat stiff which caused the wheel to hop a little while they spun. Not to mention, because of the smaller diameter because of the 45 profile, they were tiny, which shortened the gearing, so I could light them up just like regular 205/50/15 tires. They stuck OK, but you had to heat them up a little. If they made it in a 205/50/15 it might have been much better.

Because he wants to run the widest tire he can. Not some puny 205's

I have the 215/45/16 falken azenies and for a 16" tire you can't go wrong with
these for a dailey driven car. Another tire I was looking at was the Toyo T1-S
in 225/40/16. I here these are light but and the sidewalls are not that stiff but
have not heard about dry traction. Biggest downfall is price with the toyo's.
The new Falkens are suppose to be coming out with a 215/45/16 so I may wait
for them.

the T1's are not lite. and the sidewalls are almost as hard as the Azenis. I have them right now. I had a few sets of them in the pas and loved them until some of the newer stuff came out. For the price for a street tire you cant beat the Azenis. but they suck for drag racing.

i meant SP 8000s. they are not a great drag racing tire, but they are just really really good tires. i liked them more than azenis, which i forgot to add to my list.
