Like I said in the topic title its now a 13 year old accord with 167,000 miles. Over the past month I noticed a drop in power/acceleration. Not significant but its there. Sometime in the summer the erratic idle began when I first start the car. It will idle at about 1800 RPM and then if hit the gas or bring it into drive then into park, the idle goes up and down. After 3-4 minutes it starts to resolve- its less pronounced. After running 5 minutes or so, it stops.

Looking around this site it seemed it was likely to be IAC. I pulled one from the boneyard dropped it in. It did improve a bit but its still there.

I'm not sure if the 2 problems related. I would guess not. I know the car is getting a little old. Any ideas on giving a little more life and resolving the erratic idle?
I know 167K is an old car especially in the northeast but i know it still has some life in it.

 

Mine had the same problem on my 93 and i cleaned up the IAC and replaced the PCV valve and the idle fixed right after that. I also went ahead and put new plugs and plugwires in just for overkill cuz i needed em anyway and thought it might help some too. Carbon buildup can really mess over the idle, run some fuel injector cleaner also...
