sony x-plod amp throwing a red light (protection code)
in my little brothers car, i have 2 mtx 10s with my old sony x-plod amp. its a 480watt amp and the subs are brand new roadthunders. the light on the amp should be green and its red. last time i checked, red meant that it was throwing a protection code that needed to be fixed. anyone ever delt with this sort of problem? any solutions?
thanks

so what should i do? i checked the ground with a test light, that came out fine. should i just disconnect one sub and see if just one of them work? because if i did that i would raise the ohm load and hopefully that would make the amp kick in.

try connecting the subs as normal speakers (i.e. a left and a right)
don't but it into mono mode, and put a low pass filter on the rca cable before the amp.
this way the amp is running at a full 4 ohm setup.
the only problem is that this may not sound great if you play a track that has low down stereo effect (i.e. slightly different noise on the left and right channel.)
you may be able to overcome this by using rca splitters before and after the lowpass filter, therfore combining the channel, and this way you will only need one filter.
