Default mig welding aluminum

could a mig with aluminum wire do a nice job of welding an intake manifold? its hard to find alot of decent info on mig welding aluminum, seems like most people are tigging but i don't quite have enough money to get into a tig at the moment. anyone have experience with this? what are the pros / cons? what about weld quality vrs tig?

also, is it necessary to use a gun mounted spool when aluminum welding?

i would mainly be looking to weld 1/8" thick or so aluminum.

thanks in advance for all advice and opinions!

You can try it without a spoolgun, but odds are the wire will jam up in the liner and not work.

You'd want to use 100% argon gas for it also. You may want to just fab up all the pieces and have somebody TIG it up for you.
