would a 97 tail lamp fit into a 95 assuming I want to keep the existing bumper?

what does the bumper have to do with the taillights? But no, the taillights are different, it wont work.

i guess the more accurate question is are the 95 tail lamps exactly the SAME SIZE as the 97? without regard to the wiring difference will it physically fit into the cavity?

 

nope, it's not a direct fit.

dammit! is it the shape? the size? the bolt pattern behind it?

 

The taillight's are different shapes I believe. If you want to upgrade your existing lights remove the amber turn signal lenses... it takes some work but its a "custom" look with stock lights.

 

they are totally different.

96-97 or two pieces.

94-95 is just 1 lamp.

94-95 and 96-97 bumpers are also different at where the trunk and lights line up.

Thanks for info and the tip. but i really just wanted to upgrade to a gen5.5 lamp (so to speak)
