Keep my Shortshifter or put in Normal one ?
Well my Jdm B16 tranny with 46k miles is outa the ride. 3rd gear was all messed up. So, i sold it and purchased an 01 usdm itr tranny with 28k miles. *mint*. the question is: Should i take out my dc sports short shifter cut even lower than normal and replace it with a stock shifter? what kind? and why. Thanks

People do that, theyll cut then have it rethreaded. Saves money ::Shrugs::
Anyway its really a matter of what feeling you like better, what you got or stock?

that will make it shorter in height but not throw and its cheaper and easier to just grab the stock one down lower ::Shrugs::

thats all it is unless its a short throw shifter then its how far you want to go between gears

that's not even the purpose of a short shifter.
if you like the feel of the short throw, you could replace it with a skunk2 short shifter which sits the same as stock. or if you want it right next to you, think about the fastline one haha.

Im talking about saving the tranny. I dont want to mess this new tranny up with a shortshifter. I hear they tend to do that. and im sure it didnt help the b16 tranny i had

That would bug the **** out of me...
I have an Evasive Dual Bend Short Shifter coupled with a Spoon Shift **** and a CTR shift boot and could not be happier.

cutting the shifter would make the throws shorter, and short throw shifters dont eat trannies drivers do. If you shift hard with a stock shifter it will do just as much damage if you shift hard with a short shifter.
In all honesty, the best shifters are the taller shifters that keep your hands closer to the wheel between shifts.
However, shifters don't kill transmissions, drivers do.

Sure, but looking sweet isn't what creates a better car or wins races.

Very opinionated here... what may be better to someone will be horrible to another. Regardless, a short shifter seems to be on the list of 'positive mods' on a car... so whether it's a couple inches tall or a couple feet tall, it's safe to say that the majority of people would benefit or enjoy a short throw shifter.

it is more function over fashion.. so that you can shift faster and takes less time to reach the shifter
on the other hand.. i agree with you.. it looks too weird for a street car.. its okay for a track car..

cutting the stock doesnt make as a big difference as a real short throw shifter. i have a megan racing one (got it for free)
... same height as my stock one, but the throw is alot shorter.
