Default Q: 94 Accord fluid levels and Trans flush procedure

See M/Y in question below --

My Owners manual says that my Honda's engine oil capacity is from 4 to 5.2 US quarts with filter. Why is it a range rather than a known level when Honda is including the filter and not the remaining oil in the engine?

Same question for the ATF. I put in 2.5 Quarts per this web site info and the level is at the top of the crosshatch - No problem. But why does Honda's owner's manual say that it takes from 3.4 to 6.3 US Quarts to fill the Auto Trans with ATF? No way I can add that (it would be runnning out the dipstick area). I wonder if they mean the entire tranny, including the torq converter. I'm thinking that 2.5 quarts that I drained and refilled was just part of what was in the trans.

Parenthetically, I also own a Volvo and the "initial" flush procedure was about the same. Pull drain plug and add about two quarts. But then you can also remove the return trans line (coming from the radiator or at the trans), and flush two more quarts, shut off engine, add two quarts again, shut off engine, add two quarts, etc., etc., until it is all clear and red like new. I just did this recently for my Volvo and My Mom's Volvo. I get a case of ATF for each car and do the flush about every 20K. I prefer the semi synth for the Volvos but I use the Honda stuff for the Honda. Can this type of flushing done on my Honda? Just wondering.
