Has anyone installed 8" subs in the 6x9 location on a Civic?

I don't want to do the box in the trunk thing. I am thinking of a good set of 6x9 subs or putting free-air 8's in where the 6x9's go. Is this possible? Has anyone done it and do you have pics? Thanks!
