Bogging under full throttle..
Well I finally got my car back on the road but now I have a new problem. Whenever the accellerator is pinned to the floor it will go for about a half to a full second then completly cut out, even if I have the pedal floored it will start to gradually lose speed. RPMs decrease in the same fashion. Everything else is working fine, VTEC sounds and feels great. I know my exhaust is in horrible shape but thats the only thing thats currently "wrong" with the vehicle. Its a 1993 CX hatchback with an obd1 97 b18c1 swap. What are some preliminary things that I can start replacing and ruling out? Is this a common problem? All help is greatly appreciated
Edit: My idle also sucks as well, its been the same since I dropped the motor into this car. When you start it can go as high as 2500 (although it is cold as hell here) but will eventually settle down to 1300-1600.
Edit2: Just had my cat replaced, now I can apply about 90% throttle instead of 75%. Same bogging problem
Replaced:
IACV
FITV
No vaccum leak
Spark plugs
TIA!

thats all fine as far as I know. car just came back from spending a month at the local Honda dealership getting new brakes, battery, and tune up. They said everything was fine.

With a timing light.
With a timing light.
You have to take the cover off of the timing belt, make sure it's all set to TDC, and shoot the timing light at it. Make sure the lines on the crank line up with the arrow.

I idle way higher than 750.. could this be the same problem?

1st thing 1st check spark plugs and plug caps. If your getting oil on ya spark plugs it will bogg when u floor it my hatch did the same thing. Check it asap or u will blow a clinder. I hope this helps
ouch, if you don't know how to check and set your ignition timing, then you're not going
to have much luck diagnosing this.
(well you might.. but you should still really know this).
read up on how to set your ignition timing.
make sure its set right and go from there.
Problems like this could definetely be the ignition system.
could be something dying in the distributor, like the coil, or ignitor.
Also it could be a problem with the TPS sensor, that can affect idle as well.
if you have a multimeter or voltmeter, you can hook it up to the tps, check voltage
at the middle wire. it should be near .5 with the throttle shut, and 4.5 with the throttle open fully.(you can do this with the ignition switch set to 1, but you dont need the car running).

The timing belt may have jumped and/or the timing was never set correctly to begin with. As stated before, check the plugs and the gap. Your High idle may be due to a vacum leak (most likely) or a bad FITV (out of adjustment). Get a service manual and it will explain both of these more in depth for you w/ pics. Good Luck

Thanks, but I've already ruled out vaccum leak and the FITV. What am I looking for on the spark plugs? I will take a look at the timing but I'm idling way too high for me to adjust it..?

Checked the spark plugs, there was no noticable oil residue on them.

nah neither of those are gonna be the cause, does it do this at every rpm? and if u have an extra ecu or a friend with one, just hook it up to go ahead and see if you can rule that out

Yep, no matter what gear or what rpm, pinning the accellerator shuts down the motor. I am starting to think it could be my o2 sensor in my cat? I'm going to try to have my timing looked at tomorrow
you can try to check the map sensor and the tps sensor...both clips look identical and both clip and sometimes people clip them in backwards...i know i have done that before and it ran like poopy and then i swapped them back and ran good...just a suggestion
