I'm looking for people who have hotlap/HPDE/Solo2 experience on 205/40-16 tires. I'm currently on 195/50-15 Bridgestone S-03s and am looking for 205/40-16 tires that are comparable to the performance of S-03/Toyo T1-S/Goodyear F1GS-D3.
The car is primarily a daily driver (typically 15,000-20,000 miles a year)and will see 3-5 events (hotlap and/or Solo2) a year. My main consideration for tires is dry grip and wet grip/hydroplane resistance. I can live with noisy tires and short tread life. The S-03 and T1-S in 195/50-15 fulfilled my requirements well. Unfortunately, S-03 and T1-S are not available in 205/40-16.
In researching this size, I came upon the Yokohama Parada Spec 2 and the Nitto NeoGen. Both tires have a similar funky tread design. Both are about $75ea. From searching H-T, there's been a lot of negative reviews but no actual 'reports' to quantify the negative reviews other than that they don't like too many heat cycles. Pretty much the only thing they have going for them is the price.
Other ideal candidates are the BFG g-Force Sport and the Dunlop Sport FM901. FM901 seemed to get positive comments but I couldn't find anything on the g-Force Sport.
Thanks in advance...I'm off to look up Kumho 712 reviews...
