Not if you use the right stuff...I had mine power washed, cleaned with a steel brush, and then painted with high heat paint. I've driven the car with the swap since early July and it's still on and no traces of it coming off...even if you try to pick at it.

Actually the thing I forgot to mention is that if the block is not cleaned probably and left with any sort of lubricant on (oil, wd40, p/s fluid, etc) it wont stick on properly when sprayed over.

there is specific paints to handle the heat. in fact, there are certain paints made for painting your engine block

if mine was brand new i would not of painted it. but it was so disgusting i had to hand clean and paint it.
