hey guys i just bought a civic, and have come across a problem.. if u guys can help diagnose it that would be greatly appreciated . anyways so this is how it goes, every time i accelerate and try to break, upon breaking there is a violent rattling sound coming from somwehere inside the steering wheel, and the steering wheel moves out of control ( not too much but is noticeable)... there is also a srs light lit up on the gauge cluster... is there a link between the two.. is the problem serious? what is it? and how much would it cost to fix this? thanks

if you said that your steering wheel shake when brake are applied then it sounded like your brake rotors are warp. need more info on the srs problem. does it stay on or go off after braking? there are diagnostic code for the srs.

 

hmm i guess ill have my rotors checked out. but the srs light is always on. the previous owner also rerouted the wiring for the horn... its located under the steering wheel and the steering wheel horn buttons do not work...i guess the cars been in an accident or sumthing.. do u think there is any airbag in the car? maybe the airbag deploeyd and so they had to put the horn in another area? im not sure if this is making anysense to you... but thats what it is. thanks in advance

 

can you check if your car still had the airbag? if the car had been in an accident and airbag had deployed then srs will stay on. you will need to get a new srs ecu or maybe you can get it reset at honda dealer.

 

i dont know how to chekc the airbag... i hope someone here does, if anyone knows wats up with my car, let me know !!
