Installed header --> Check Engine light
Installed a header recently (JG Edelbrock pro flo header) on my 00si...
but the check engine light comes on.
I've tried resetting the ECU but check engine light keeps coming back on.
Is this common when you install headers?
Any way to fix??

The local shop installed it for me.
They did screw up the installation 1st time around and the O2 sensor
came out while I was driving.
Right now the O2 sensor is back in where it's suppose to be.

i would say so if it came out it could have draqged on the road or hit anything under the car. take it back and demand for it to be fixed!

Make sure that your header isn't leaking anywhere...
If it's leaking it will throw a code too
check for cracks too

yeah....your O2 is probably damaged. they can break real easy if they get tossed around at all.

Yeah...i would of installed it myself if this was going to happen...
I called the shop and said that the O2 sensor can't be damaged that
easily. I will bring the car tomorrow and have them check it.
By the way, how much to replace the O2 sensor?

for a 4wire from honda is like 140 bucks maybe a little lower but not much
don't let them screw you....they should fix it for free!!!
a damn mechanic should know that an O2S is very fragile
My friend installed headers on his 99 DX and the samething happened. The old Headers used to use 2 sensors and the ones he got only use 1. We though this was the problem but now that i see this im gonna tell him to go check his O2 sensor.
something like that happen d to me..they put the O2 sensor in the wrong place..then when they fix d it..fried the sensor when torching the resonator..real dumbheads...u would have heard a metalic rattling if the sensor was coming loose..they should have used a plumbing type of seal to make sure the sensor was on tight

I really would like to know what kind of header he got, and how he installed it on a dx. I am sure I can help with this problem....cause it happened to me.

edit: the reason the old header(mainfold) has two O2S is b/c with the dx, the cat is built into the manifold. so one O2S is in the manifold at the top and the other is in the cat towards the bottom. a new header will only have one hole for a O2S b/c the other O2S goes into the cat....that's why they haven't made a header especially for a dx yet(or I haven't seen one)

He got Reactive Ceramic Coated 4-1 headers, there is only one whole for an O2 sensor, so one of the 2 sensors remains unhooked. He got the headers from a shop at Miami.

for my 98 dx....I bought a header, cat, and a cat back exhaust for an ex civic. this is the only way you can do it. an aftermarket header will not hook up to a stock dx exhaust system unless you customize it. I am not trying to be a bitch or anything I am just trying to understand the situation. My car is doing the same thing. ok?

and all headers only come with one hole for the O2S...they aren't supposed to have two holes.

I did take it to the shop this morning and they said that the O2 sensor was causing the check engine light to come on. He said he'll order the new O2 sensor today.
We haven't discussed who will pay for the O2 sensor yet but they admitted
that it probably broke after the 1st installation....when they didn't install it
properly. I'll let ya'll know how it turns out. Wish me luck.

i had the same problem. i replaced the headers myself. i made sure i didn't damage the O2 sensor. i thought the header was leaking so i tighen all the bolts again. the light is still on.. but my car runs fine.
